Chia’s basic interpretive assumption is both right and an important corrective to Fewell: Jewish literature in general, and here in Daniel specifically, delights in making a fool of those arrogant human powers who think that they contend with YHWH.

That Chia shows the correlation between that particular Jewish attitude and contemporary postcolonial theory is prescient.  The analysis is beyond standard liberation themes because it demonstrates the peaceful power of literature to critique and unmask the powers.
