In class Dr. Bolger gave a basic premise: the church in the West should pattern its structure and style on the missionary model, listening to the beat of the culture and telling the stories of Jesus.  My question is how can we as pilgrim people know what aspects of the culture we should reject and what aspects should pop up as part of an indigenous church?  When I lived in Japan, I was struck by the way that the church there looked and functioned exactly like a Southern Baptist church in the midwest.  I was thereafter not surprised by how unsuccessful it was.
